EL MERCADO DE LA GUERRA, August 5-9 2009 11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. Stroll through a colorful Mexican market in De La Guerra Plaza; feast on Spanish and Mexican-American foods, shop for crafts and souvenirs and enjoy live entertainment all day and into the evening featuring children's shows, Spanish and Mexican folk dancing and music.
EL MERCADO DEL NORTE, August 5-8 2009 11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. Mercado Del Norte located in MacKenzie Park at Las Positas and State Streets is a treat for families. Local non-profit groups provide a grand selection of tempting Spanish-Mexican foods and beverages. The kids will love the carnival rides and attractions. Enjoy the daily entertainment featuring music and dance, and then in the evening, step onto the dance floor and dance the night away.
LA FIESTA PEQUEÑA, August 5, 2009 8:00 p.m. "The Little Fiesta" officially opens Old Spanish Days on the steps of Santa Barbara's historic Old Mission.
CELEBRACIÓN DE LOS DIGNITARIOS, August 6, 2009 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Gather at the hilltop of the beautiful Santa Barbara Zoological Gardens. Sample delicious finger foods and wine tasting presented by local restaurants and wineries and dance the night away.
COMPETENCIA DE LOS VAQUEROS, August 6-9, 2009 7:30 p.m. Sat/Sun matinees at 1:30 p.m. See local talent competing in stock horse classes and mutton bustin'. Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo action with bull and bronc riding, steer stopping. All activities at Earl Warren Showground's covered arena.
LAS NOCHES DE RONDA, August 6-8, 2009 8:00 p.m. "Nights of Gaiety" a favorite Fiesta tradition. A splendid variety show of music, singing, fiery flamenco from Spain, vivid Folklórico dances from many regions of Mexico.
EL DESFILE HISTÓRICO / PARADE, August 7 2009 at Noon. The Fiesta Historical Parade is one of the largest equestrian parades in the United States. From the west end of Cabrillo Blvd and then up State Street Sola St.
FIESTA ARTS & CRAFTS SHOW, August 8 & 9, 2009 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. A statewide gathering of artisans and crafts people display a wide variety of paintings, carvings, pottery, and other wares in a lovely, palm-lined area along the ocean. Cabrillo Blvd., west from Stearns Wharf.
EL DESFILE DE LOS NIÑOS, August 8, 2009 10:00 a.m. Young people of Santa Barbara, their parents and other parade participants, don traditional costumes and celebrate the rich culture of the area. Parade proceeds down State Street, from Victoria to Ortega Streets.
TARDES DE RONDA, August 8, 2009 1:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Children's Variety Show. With colorful costumes, children from the Santa Barbara area demonstrate their talents & multi-cultural heritage. In the beautiful Sunken Gardens at the County Court House.
